Northern
Taiwan has a wide variety of tourist
attractions,
from the cultural to the modern.
The National Palace Museum,
Beitou hot springs area and Fort
San Domingo each show the different
cultures Chinese,
Japanese, Spanish and Dutch settlers
brought to the island. For a more
modern touch,
Taipei 101 and the 24-hour Eslite
bookstore are popular destinations.
And when you're good and hungry,
there is a large selection of
night markets to try out too.
FTV's Michella Jade Weng reports.
Whale watching,
taking bridal photos on the coast,
and taking a ride down the nostalgic
Pingxi line,
these are all popular outdoor
itineraries when people visit
Northern Taiwan.
If culture is more your thing,
the National Palace Museum houses
over 650 thousand Chinese Imperial
artifacts,
the Japanese architecture in the
Beitou hot spring resort show
remnants of Japanese occupation,
and Fort San Domingo in Danshuei
is another reminder of Taiwan's
multi-cultural history. There
is also the Longshan Temple which
can give you a peek into religious
practices in the region.
And back to modern-day Taiwan,
you can visit Taipei 101,
still the tallest complete building
in the world,
and swing by Asia's first 24-hour
bookstore, Eslite.
Then when you're good and hungry,
you may want to check out the
night markets for some interesting
food like oyster pancakes and
mini sausages.
You may find that you wish you
had a bigger stomach to try all
of these things
and more energy and time in the
day to visit all of these places
in Northern Taiwan.
