Touring Taiwan on Two Wheels

Taiwan has long been one of the world¡¦s major manufacturers of bicycles,
but it has only been over the past year that cycling has really begun to take off as a viable means of transportation,
even as a way of getting to see far-flung places.
Some of the most scenic places in Taiwan,
like Danshui and Sun Moon Lake have bike paths and rental stations for people to use,
and this week, Michella Jade Weng visits one of them.##

From Taipei's Guandu to Danshui and then across the river to Bali,
now, you can do it all on bicycle.

It feels great, and the scenery is beautiful, said this cyclist.

First stop, Danshui MRT station, where there is an old street selling souvenirs and snacks,
like this gigantic ice cream. Then...

From Danshui, you can take the ferry across the river to Bali.

Six minutes,
a few sea breezes and some breathtaking views later,
we arrive in Bali.
From here, let's continue on to the Shisanhang Museum of Archaelogy.

Taiwan is really a beautiful place, but to go around the entire island,
it would take more than 10 days.
But now there are five great paths that were specially made for bicycle tours.

The Guandu-Danshui-Bali path is one of those paths.
Along these routes,
tourists can find bike rental shops that provide riders with everything from gear to information.
