Taipei
has something in store for all
kinds of travelers,
and there's a budget for everyone.
This week,
Michella Jade Weng visits Wufenpu
(五分埔) where clothes are sold at
wholesale prices,
Wenlin (文林) Street,
where you can have your facial
hair removed with only a piece
of thread
and to a manicurist who can put
just about any kind of design
on your finger or toe nails.
Two T-shirts for NT$300, that's
less than five US dollars a piece.
Those are the kinds of prices
you'll see here at Taipei's clothing
wholesale market, Wufenpu.
"It's really cheap here.
You can find just about anything
here,
from evening gowns to jeans to
accessories,
all at low, low prices."
Tired
from all that walking?
How about taking a break and get
your feet massaged?
Or perhaps a pedicure? A typical
nail salon can do any design,
from the very basic French nails
to Swarovski crystal bling bling.
Manicures start at NT$1600.
"It's really relaxing, and
my nails are now really pretty",
said this customer.
And
if you're feeling adventurous,
you can try having facial hair
removed on the Wenlin Street sidewalk,
the way brides used to, with just
powder and a piece of string,
for NT$200. They'll even shape
your eyebrows for you if you like.
There's
something for every girl in Taipei
and it doesn't have to be expensive
or run-of-the-mill.
